Grad Project 2.0!

So we're back in Grad Project for the next 6 weeks. I completely changed my project from painting a mural to student directing the drama program. My actual product will be an addition to City High's student handbook about getting involved in the drama club, along with a pamphlet to hand to potential donors about the funding we'll need. It's been a lot of work to change topics, but it got to the point where the mural was no longer an option.
So, this is all I need to graduate, and it looks like it'll be a boatload of fun!

Another update!

Since my last post, I've turned in a rough draft of my proposal and I've been working on an action plan. I got an email from the new Service Learning Coordinator from the SCA, asking if I want to help with the 10th grade's mural project.
I don't know if that's the path I necessarily wanted, but she could be a good resource and possible interviewee.
This is where I stand as of right now, and I'll continue working on the action plan since I think it might have been due on Friday.

Update

It's been a while since my last post, but basically I've been working on the bibliography and did-you-know facts. The proposal is a little tough for me since it's unclear what organization I'm going to work with, but I'll figure something out.
My next step is to complete the proposal and move on to looking at the different organizations I could work through. Also I have to keep in mind how to get approval for my project with a community and the Arts Commission.

Starting the project

I've decided to paint a mural as my project. For the essential questions, I'd probably look at whether or not public art decreases crime rates or the presence of graffiti.
It would be a long process; finding a lot, choosing art that would represent the area's culture, getting permission to paint a wall, cleaning, the actual painting, and getting the community involved. I'd have to take into consideration whether I want to work with an organization or do this on my own.
I've been looking at Sprout Public Art, http://www.sproutfund.org/publicart/ as a source to research. They might be able to help fund this project, but they have a selection process that takes a few months, and I don't know if that would be on the right schedule for the time I have left in high school because I'd have to apply in February/March.

Topics

I've narrowed down my topics to: sex abuse, helping people, and painting murals. These topics are interesting to me, and each seems like it can be spun into a project that will help me grow as a person.

I have some ideas for a sex abuse project. I've been looking into a website, http://www.darknesstolight.org, that is focused on childhood sex abuse prevention. I was thinking of using that site as a major source for my project.

Day 1

Today I answered questions about blogging and thought about a topic for my grad project.
I have a few ideas but they're pretty vague, so I'll have to work on narrowing it down.
